Rain, Melting Snow Prompt Flood Watch For Chicago Area

Rain, Melting Snow Prompt Flood Watch For Chicago Area”

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for an area of Wisconsin that includes Kenosha County. While 12 hours might not seem like that big a deal, there is a significant amount of rain expected over a short amount of time.

That wintry mix will carry us through the morning commute on Wednesday, but no major accumulations of sleet or ice are expected.

Flood stage is 9 feet, according to the weather service.

Heavy rainfall is forecast across Arkansas this week, bringing the potential for flash flooding, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in North Little Rock.

A Flood watch is in effect for counties across mid-Michigan until Wednesday afternoon. "It's looking like we'll be seeing record temperatures in the low to mid 60s". Rainfall totals could range from just under an inch to 2.5 inches across East Central Illinois.

Rain and fluctuating temperatures have led Evanston city officials to prepare for flooding. If you see a large area of flooding on a road, don't drive across it.

Unseasonably mild air will accompany the rain and record warmth is possible Tuesday.

People in the Watch area are advised to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Temperatures soared into the upper 70s to low 80s over much of the area.

With several opportunities for rain in the 7 day, flooding concerns continue to climb as rivers continue to rise.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow showers.
