Leicester tell Riyad Mahrez to 'clear his head' after third day's absence

Leicester tell Riyad Mahrez to 'clear his head' after third day's absence”

Riyad Mahrez will not play for Leicester against Swansea on Saturday as he "clears his head", with his return to the squad set to be carefully managed by the Premier League club.

"He's going to go in the summer isn't he, I'm afraid, for Leicester supporters". Mahrez also missed the 2-1 defeat by Everton on Wednesday.

According to Sky Sports, the Algerian winger was a no-show on Wednesday and Thursday, after a deadline day move to Manchester City failed to materialise.

Leicester City boss Claude Puel has revealed that the Foxes are continuing to assess the ongoing situation involving Riyad Mahrez.

"It's a tough situation for us and all of this is a situation we need to manage but all of the details will stay inside the club".

"Riyad is a valuable and crucial player for the squad".

"I don't think City would have been anywhere near a player like that had Leroy Sané not got injured", sport finance specialist Dan Plumley told Omnisport.

"All the players, all the staff, will help him to come back with a smile, to enjoy his football with his team-mates because he is a great player, fantastic, a good man and he likes football", he said after the game. It is important now to move on and to keep our focus on the pitch.

'There is talk of him being fined for failing to show up for training, but I know - from personal experience - how galling it can be when your heart lies elsewhere in football.

The Algeria worldwide handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through a transfer, sources said, and he was left out of the squad for Wednesday's defeat at Everton.

Mahrez submitted a transfer request at the start of the week, and was initially linked to Arsenal, before City became the front runners for his signature.
