Coach may have known about Nassar in 2011 - Aly Raisman”

Millions of viewers tuned in live to watch the two sentencing hearings of former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University medical doctor and trainer, Larry Nassar, who was found guilty of decades long sexual misconduct by hundreds of young female athletes under a ruse of his care. He was first sentenced to 60 years in a federal prison on child pornography charges in July, before being slapped with 40 to 175 years in a MI state prison for sexually assaulting minors.

Nassar, 54, will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

More than 250 women came forward alleging Larry Nassar abused them.

The board of directors of USA Gymnastics stepped down after U.S. Olympic officials threatened to decertify the governing body. Monday was the first day for interim President John Engler, who called for the school to preserve all documents related to Nassar that could used against the institution in investigations (Deadspin, "MSU Interim President John Engler To School Employees: Don't Destroy Documents Related to Investigations", 2.6.2018).

"A lack of nation allowed Nassar's offenses to infect almost every level of gymnastics in our country", the letter to Engler said.

That Nassar's victims finally got a hearing and he was charged and convicted for his crimes was an advance for women and working people, a result of the recent outcry against such abuse.

Here is what Raisman had to say about the matter in an interview with CNN.

Engler spokesman John Truscott told the Lansing State Journal that he couldn't provide specifics, but "we've said we expect full cooperation with all investigations, and if that doesn't happen there will be consequences".

"One of my teammates described in graphic detail what Nassar had done to her the night before. And John Geddert was in the vehicle with us and he just didn't say anything", Ms Raisman told CNN.

A father who lunged at disgraced sports doctor Larry Nassar during his sentencing last week plans to send donations for his potential court fees to groups supporting victims of sex abuse.

In one of the victim impact statements, Amanda Thomashow expressed how Michigan State University turned a blind eye to her complaints.

Nassar, as of Friday morning, is being housed at Milan Federal Correctional Institution in Milan, Mich., according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website.
