CBS appoints John Dickerson as Rose's replacement”

CBS anchor John Dickerson of "Face the Nation" will co-host "CBS This Morning" following the ousting of Charlie Rose over allegations of sexual misconduct, The Huffington Post reports.

Dickerson replaces Charlie Rose, who was sacked in November over sexual misconduct allegations.

Now Mr. Dickerson, who until recently was better known as a writer than as the host of the CBS Sunday show "Face the Nation", is leaving Washington and embarking on a new phase in his career: the Manhattan-centric world of morning TV. That sets him apart from ABC "Good Morning America" host George Stephanopoulos, who continues to host ABC's "This Week" on Sundays.

CBS News' decision to hire Dickerson comes one week after NBC News made a prolific replacement announcement.

Dickerson begins anchoring tomorrow, January 10, 2018, and will be based in NY.

Virginia native Dickerson, 49 - son of pioneering newswoman Nancy Dickerson - was a correspondent for Time and Slate before joining CBS in 2009 as an analyst before becoming political director.

"John's impressive track record and strong all-around journalism extends CBS's commitment to real news coverage every morning at CBS News", said David Rhodes, president of CBS News. "Gayle and Norah continue to show tremendous leadership on our morning broadcast each day". King and O'Donnell also released statements revealing their excitement to welcome Dickerson to the team.

Since launching on January 9, 2012, CBS THIS MORNING has increased CBS' audience in the time period by 44% - or 1.01 million viewers - while NBC's "Today" lost 15% of its total audience and ABC's "Good Morning America" has plunged 12%. On Jan. 2, NBC announced live on the air that Today veteran Hoda Kotb would officially join Savannah Guthrie at the show's anchor desk.
