Black Widow movie moving forward, taps Jac Schaeffer to write”

Scarlett Johansson and president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige have expressed desire for a Black Widow solo outing ever since her first appearance in Iron Man 2 (2010). No, that's not exactly the tone anyone would want in a Black Widow film, but she's also written the sci-fi movie TiMER starring Emma Caulfield and "The Shower", a short about an alien invasion at a baby shower starring Anne Hathaway.

Hathaway loved working with Schaeffer so much she brought the writer on board to pen "Nasty Women", a female take on the the 1988 comedy "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", which started Michael Caine and Steve Martin.

You first saw her particular set of skills in Iron Man 2, and since then she has appeared in five other movies from the Avengers sagas. While the movie is unconfirmed and unannounced, Variety reports that Marvel has found a writer for it: Jac Schaeffer.

REUTERS/Lucas JacksonScarlett Johansson plays Black Widow in the "Avengers" films. Having an established hero with her own fan base and back story in place makes for an easy transition.

And rumours of a Black Widow solo movie have been on-going for years, but mostly from eager fans - as the studio and Scarlett Johansson have made it clear that at the moment, they had no concrete plans for the character. It's taken the actor to appear in six subsequent releases for the studio to finally move forward with the project. Johansson will reunite with the rest of the Avengers in Infinity War, which arrives on May 4. "She's got a really rich origins story", the actress told Variety in 2016 of Black Widow (AKA Natalia "Natasha" Romanova), a Russian agent who was trained as a spy, martial artist, and sniper from the time she was a young girl. At a time when we're discussing the patriarchy and pay gap that exists in Hollywood nearly every other day, a character like Black Widow played by an actor such as Johansson being put on the back burner fees particularly egregious, in some ways.

Over the years, there's been a lot of talk about the possibility of a Black Widow movie.
