Civilization 6 Is Now Available on iPad

Civilization 6 Is Now Available on iPad”

A Civilization 6 iPad port will be coming to the more modern iPad tablets, according to a recent statement by Aspyr Media, who is responsible for porting various games from PC to iOS and Mac platforms. The game needs iOS version 11 or newer, and should run well enough on an iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, or any of the iPad Pro variants.

To make sure players feel comfortable with that purchase, they are offering the iPad port for free for the first 60 turns, which effectively makes it a free-to-play timed title.

We tried the game out and found that it is indeed the full Civilization VI experience, as promised. Civilization: Revolution, a less complex spinout, has previously made its way to the iPad, but this is the full Civilization VI released for PCs originally previous year. That's not the case with the latest high-profile iPad game release.

But Civilization VI's price has split the gaming community into warring factions. Users can get the game, a manageable 3.14 GB download, for free and try it out for at most 60 turns.

Instead of a scaled down mobile version of the epic game, the iPad version seems to include a fully-featured game, complete with huge, sprawling empires that players can build and battle with. However, with the release of a full game for the iPad, it looks like the franchise is eyeing the mobile industry as its target market.

Civ VI is available now on the iOS App Store.

In typical Apple fashion, do not expect this game to be low price despite being an iPad port. Multiplayer is available, but only through LAN.

Sid Meier's Civilization VI has been out for just over a year, delighting Civilization V fans by changing things up for the series with tweaks to settlements and victory conditions. Bringing over the DLC from the PC version as well as the upcoming Rise and Fall expansion is in the cards, however, Aspyr says it "cannot confirm timing or availability at this time".
