Apple is buying audio recognition app Shazam”

Shazam had already maintained a long-standing relationship with Apple-in 2008, it was one of the first apps to be featured on Apple's App Store. Later that year, it arrived on Android, and it has continued to maintain a strong userbase.

Apple is in talks to acquire song recognition app Shazam, in a deal that could beef up the tech giant's music streaming capacity and help it compete with rival Spotify, according to a tech news website.

But what's really interesting is the amount that Apple is supposedly paying to buy Shazam.

For over other 1 billion downloads, Shazam has been familiar in its independence of around 19 years.

The Shazam app uses the microphone on a smartphone to identify nearly any song playing nearby.

Users of Apple's iPhone with the Shazam app installed can say: "Hey Siri, what's that song?" and the app will identify it.

The deal for the app - best known for giving users song information within seconds of hearing the lyrics - could close as soon as Monday.

In all, Shazam has raised $143.5 million from investors that include Kleiner Perkins, London's DN Capital, IVP and strategic investors Sony Music, Universal Music and Access Industries (which owns Warner Music).

The report suggests that the deal will be a "nine-figure" acquisition, with one source suggesting that Shazam will go for £300m (circa $400m). It is not clear what will turn out of this acquisition, but it will definitely serve as value addition to Apple Music and company's augmented reality efforts. It could be a done deal or Apple could have called Shazam's people up yesterday. So, if Apple purchase it, it could be a loss for Android Users.
