Katy Perry has been 'banned indefinitely' from China

Katy Perry has been 'banned indefinitely' from Chinaā€¯

But according to Page Six sources, Gigi, who confirmed in August that she had been booked to walk in the show, was banned because of an Instagram video that showed her mocking Asians while posing with a Buddha-shaped dessert.

Alongside Gigi Hadid, some other big names of Victoria's Secret have been denied Chinese visa.

Ed Razek, executive producer of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and chief creative officer at Victoria's Secret, told People: 'We started booking our musical guests months ago when Harry Styles, global superstar, signed on.

That's how Victoria's Secret must be feeling right now. During the same performance, Perry went on to wave a Tawainese flag.

Perry has not commented publicly on the reported ban.

Page Six reported that Perry's ban is related to an outfit the singer wore while performing in Taipei, Taiwan, on her 2015 world tour.

The dress caused widespread outrage because the sunflower had been adopted by a Taiwanese protest group called The Sunflower Student Movement.

Katy Perry has been 'banned indefinitely' from China

Although Taiwan is part of the Republic of China, the island country has a separate internal government from the People's Republic of China, where the fashion show will be held.

This controversy isn't the first to impact the fashion show.

.

After the video was posted, the 22-year-old model wrote: "It hurts me to hurt anyone, and I want you all to know that it was never my intent to offend anyone through my actions and I sincerely apologise to those..."

Yesterday, Gigi Hadid announced she wouldn't be participating in Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year in China and it's rumored it's because she couldn't secure a visa.

The clip was posted by the model's sister, Bella, in February and later deleted following a storm of criticism.

But Hadid isn't the only model facing setbacks.

"She was initially granted a visa to perform at the VS show in Shanghai, then Chinese officials changed their minds and yanked her visa", a source explained.
