Harry and Meghan: Five things we learned about the royal engagement

Harry and Meghan: Five things we learned about the royal engagement”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are believed to have first met in May past year when he launched the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto - the city where her TV show Suits is filmed. "This ring is truly priceless with unmatched cultural significance", she said in an email.

He designed the ring himself - it contains one diamond from Botswana, a country he visited numerous times, and two from his late mother princess Diana's personal collection.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will appear on national TV in the United Kingdom for the first time to discuss their engagement and their 16-month romance.

Markle revealed the moment was "so sweet and natural and very romantic" and Prince Harry couldn't finish his sentence before she said yes.

During the wide-ranging interview, the Prince of Wales told of how the couple were introduced by a mutual friend while on a blind date.

In the couple's first broadcast interview, the fifth in line to throne said he asked the U.S. actress to marry him while they were alone a "few weeks ago".

Prince Harry said his mother would have been "over the moon, jumping up and down" at the engagement and "best friends with Meghan".

"I really do admin - add my the way Harry and Hezbollah have..." the text on screen read.

"I was beautifully surprised when I walked into that room and saw her", he said. "It's a new chapter..." she said. "Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person".

Prince Harry had already told the Queen and "other close members of his family" of the engagement, which took place in London earlier this month, Prince Charles said on Twitter. "It's incredible. obviously not being able to meet his mum, it's so important to me to know that she's a part of this with us", Markle said, turning to Harry as she spoke about the ring. Just under half a mile away from Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey hosted the wedding of Queen Elizabeth II in 1947 and Prince William and Kate Middleton's nuptials in 2011.

Forgoing royal family history, Prince Harry may opt for a more intimate venue, unique to him and his fiancé.

However, they all agreed that in this case, the ring is "priceless" due to its ties to Princess Diana.

Exasperated by the media frenzy, the palace also released an extraordinary statement attacking the "sexism" and "racism" directed at Markle, who is of mixed race.

"At the end of day I'm really just proud of who I am and where I come from and we have never put any focus on that", she said.
