Did Tennessee Actually Offer Chip Kelly or Not?

Did Tennessee Actually Offer Chip Kelly or Not?”

A contingent of UCLA Athletics officials have met with former OR coach Chip Kelly about the school's vacant football coaching position, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday.

The paper says Kelly is considering the head coaching jobs at UCLA and Florida, but rebuffed interest from Tennessee and, "is believed to have turned away interest from Nebraska".

The Florida Gators search for a new head coach after firing Jim McElwain continues.

Meanwhile, ESPN reports that Kelly met with UCLA officials Tuesday and is expected to decide between the Bruins and the Florida Gators in the coming days. UCLA fired Jim Mora on November 19, the day after the Bruins lost to rival USC for the third season in a row.

Kelly, 53, reportedly met with Florida officials on Sunday about their coaching vacancy and could be pursued by other schools. He was sacked after he went 2-14, which gave him a 28-35 record across four seasons as an National Football League head coach, three of which were with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kelly went 46-7 in his four seasons at OR and took the team to a national championship game, so you can understand why he has so many offers from top programs.

UCLA made a surprising move to fire Mora and pay his almost $12 million buyout, something that is quite uncharacteristic of the Athletic Department.

Kelly led the Oregon Ducks to a 46-7 record in four seasons (2009-12) in Eugene, and his high-octane offenses averaged 44.7 points a game during that span. He already knows how to recruit the West Coast, so UCLA is a fit.
