Video shows man punching California officer before shooting”

Two police officers were treated and released from the hospital after being shot in New Haven on Saturday morning.

Hartman said Officer Pasino was grazed in the arm, and Officer Shumway was also shot in the arm.

The man removes something from the officer's belt before the officer opens fire. The two then fall to the ground and the officer can be heard shouting, "let go of my gun", though he appears to be in full control of the weapon.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, La Verne police responded to a family disturbance call at the location, said Deputy Charles Moore.

Sheriff's detectives were assisting La Verne police in investigating an officer-involved-shooting Saturday that left one man and one officer injured.

The officer then tried his Taser on the man, but it did not work, authorities said. The man continued approaching the officer, despite repeated commands to stop. "Fearing for his safety, the officer discharged his firearm several times, striking him once in the upper torso area". Police said that she was taken to a hospital and is in serious condition. The officer was wearing a protective vest and their injuries are not considered life-threatening. The man's condition wasn't known. Police say there is no further threat to people in general. The investigation remains ongoing, he added.
