Hundreds of Russians told to move away from North Korean border

It was specifically threatened by North Korea in 2013 and once again in August 2017, following a fiery exchange of threats and insults between Trump and the North Korean regime.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the pressure on North Korea over its nuclear missile programme as futile warning that North Asia faces "large-scale conflict". Putin also targeted the United States, saying that it should not have put pressure on North Korea to dismantle its nuclear missile program. Provocations, pressure and militarist and insulting rhetoric are a dead-end road, " he noted.

Putin penned a statement published on the Kremlin's website on Friday, ahead of a summit of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) nations in China next week.

"It is essential to resolve the region's problems through direct dialogue involving all sides without advancing any preconditions (for such talks)", Putin wrote.

Last month, the UN Security Council unanimously agreed to impose more restrictive measures on Pyongyang, banning exports of coal, iron, lead, and seafood, the news channel recalled.

According to the US military, American Marine Corps F-35B fighter jets based in Japan joined Air Force B-1B bombers from Guam on Wednesday for the first time, flying over parts of South Korea and practicing attack capabilities with South Korean aircraft.

The missile launch prompted outrage from Japan and the UN Security Council, while South Korea and the U.S. conducted test bombings in a show of force.

It is the latest in a series of strongly-worded threats from Donald Trump, who warned that North Korea would be met with "fire and fury like the world has never seen" if they continuing to threaten the US.

The test appeared to have been carried out by the North in response to ongoing war exercises between the United States and South Korea.

Last week, Japan and the USA imposed new sanctions on entities and individuals that support Pyongyang, including those in China and Russian Federation.

The exercise was created to "strongly counter North Korea's repeated ballistic missile tests and development of nuclear weapons", the official said.
