Cincinnati falls to MI 36-14

Cincinnati falls to MI 36-14”

The game started well with MI coming out to a 14-7 lead and gaining 155 yards in the first quarter.

Speight (17 of 29, 221 yards, two touchdowns) didn't make any critical mistakes, but the offense was stop-and-start and there's still a developmental curve with a young group of receivers.

MI didn't stretch its lead to more than 14 points until the fourth quarter, and there were a few anxious moments in between. He had TD passes to Kekoa Crawford early in the game and to Grant Perry in the third that gave MI a 10-point cushion. Offensively, Michigan was okay, but quarterback Wilton Speight threw a pair of interceptions for touchdowns to allow Florida to stay in the game. Mike Boone rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown to go over 100 yards for the sixth time in his career while Thomas Geddis caught four passes for 48 yards and a TD against the Governors.

After the game, MI coach Jim Harbaugh said that Speight has a bad habit of handing the ball off with one hand, which can cause the ball to slip and be fumbled.

The first came on an attempted end-around to Crawford, and blame could be placed on both players, while the second came at the 3-yard line in the second quarter.

Michigan's next two possessions accumulated 7 yards on nine plays.

· Ty Isaac became the first MI running back to rush for over 100 yards in back-to-back games since Fitzgerald Toussaint did it for three straight games in 2011 (192 vs. Illinois, 138 vs. Nebraska, 120 vs. Ohio State). In the receiving end, Tarik Black posted 83 yards and a touchdown in two receptions while Nick Eubanks added 61 yards in two catches.

Robert Jacobson, 49, of Mt. Clemens, has been bringing his father, Robert Jacobson Senior, to a University of MI home game for the past eight years to celebrate his birthday. It is also only the second time MI has had two interceptions for a touchdown in one game since 2000, according to ESPN stats and info.

· Peoples-Jones' rush for 44 yards was the longest by a MI receiver since Jehu Chesson ran for 66 yards on a play against Maryland in 2015.

Then, freshman receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones fumbled a punt, and the rest of what transpired was an uneven-at-best performance in a 36-14 win against the Bearcats in two of three phases. Attendance for the game was 111,384.
