1500 more guardsmen from state sent to Texas”

After the discussion, and in light of Texas' need, Hutchinson made a decision to send the troops, the release said. He has led a team of two helicopters that have conducted search-and-rescue missions, supply drops and general support.

Houston Executive Airport is one of three hubs the Texas Army National Guard is operating from.

"Our Guardsmen have joined efforts with numerous other states to serve our fellow citizens in Texas", said Pennsylvania Adjutant General Major General Tony Carrelli.

At least 42 people were killed and tens-of-thousands were forced from their homes after Harvey made landfall along the Texas Gulf Coast on August 25.

Governor Asa Hutchinson authorized the deployment of 1,500 National Guardsmen from Arkansas to head to Texas to help in the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

They departed via two Pennsylvania CH-47 Chinook helicopters from Muir Army Airfield at Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County and are flying to Grand Prairie airport near Dallas, Wolf said. "We stand ready and able to assist to our neighbors during their times of need", said Maj.

Members of the Guard took off at 10:00 p.m. Friday from the Quonset Air National Guard Base. Spokesman Col. Greg Hapgood says the copters will be used to move supplies and equipment around the flood-ravaged city.
