Trump a threat to Iran nuclear deal, warns Rouhani

Trump a threat to Iran nuclear deal, warns Rouhani”

Trump's threats to withdraw from the nuclear agreement have added weight to the hard-liners' arguments, putting Rouhani ever more on the defensive and weakening him politically.

"I hope that the U.S. will not violate the obligations it has assumed", Xinhua news agency quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying on Wednesday.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani declared the Islamic Republic could quit the "nuclear deal" negotiated with the Obama administration within hours if the United States imposes any more sanctions. Since then Congress has voted for sanctions against parts of...

Lavrov pointed out that the new unilateral sanctions that the United States took against Iran had no bearing on the nuclear program, but its concerned Iran's policy in other fields the USA is critical of, such as human rights.

"The US policy of indiscriminate sanctions and pressure on third countries will make no good and contribute to emerging of new areas of tension ..."

"The Americans are categorically against the principle".

In that vein, Haley will be visiting the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna for discussions over Iran's nuclear activities.

The new USA sanctions came amid Iran's reported fueling of the recent Temple Mount crisis and its agreement to bolster relations with the Hamas terror group. "It was Iran's preference, but it was not and will not remain Iran's only option", he added.

Presidents of Iran and Russian Federation discussed energy projects, nuclear deal, and the situation in the Middle East during a telephone call.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres "considers the (Iran nuclear deal) to be one of the utmost diplomatic achievements in our collective search for peace and security", UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters.

Trump said last week he did not believe that Iran was living up to the spirit of the nuclear deal.

"Iran, I think, is very unlikely to withdraw from the deal". Iran has long denied that it seeks nuclear arms and says its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes. However, he forgets to mention that Iran has been working on it for more than ten years.

The expert said the United States and Iran appeared to be "engaging in a game of brinkmanship".

Qasemi said: 'We advise the U.S. side to be realistic in case of Iran's key role in fighting terrorism in the Middle East'.
