Sebastian Gorka resigns from White House

Sebastian Gorka resigns from White House”

The White House's first news break on Friday evening was the announcement President Trump signed a presidential memorandum officially instructing the Defense Department to stop accepting transgender individuals from joining the armed forces.

Gorka's departure from the White House comes just a week after the ouster of chief strategist Steve Bannon preceded by appointment of his new Chief of Staff John Kelly. While Gorka tried to characterize the departure as a resignation, a White House official has stated that "Sebastian Gorka did not resign, but I can confirm he no longer works at the White House".

As the strongest hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. in more than a decade took aim at Texas, President Donald Trump's White House engaged in an age-old Washington tradition: the Friday news dump.

Gorka belonged to a school of thought inside the White House that also included retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, the former national security adviser: They argued extreme Islamism is as coherent and united a threat to the United States as Nazism and communism were in the past. Though he carried the designation of deputy adviser to Trump and described himself as a national security expert, he was not a member of the president's national security team and didn't have a clearly defined role at all. "As members of the U.S. Congress who care deeply about fighting anti-Semitism at home and overseas, we urge you to immediately dismiss senior White House counterterrorism adviser Sebastian Gorka", the letter said.

"The fake news industrial complex is what we face today as Americans who believe in the founding principles of this nation", Gorka told Boyle. "It is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are-for now-ascendant within the White House", Gorka wrote.

"I was really shocked that someone like Sebastian Gorka should be part of this administration", Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., told NPR's Steve Inskeep.

"We welcome the resignation of Sebastian Gorka as a presidential adviser", The Council on American-Islamic relations said in a statement Friday. "As a result, the best and most effective way I can support you, Mr. President, is from outside the People's House".

The Congress members' proposal concerning Miller, said to be one of Bannon's closest allies on immigration and the infamous travel ban, still awaits approval to go before the full House.

TILLERSON: I think it's completely wrong. Gorka has denied membership in the Vitez Rend, the original group, but not in the Historical Vitezi Rand.
