Did VK Sasikala walk out Bengaluru Prison? Video raises questions”

The footage shows VK Sasikala, who is now serving her four-year sentence after being convicted in the disproportionate assests case, dressed in a dark kurta and carrying a bag, walking through the main entry area of the prison along with her sister-in-law Ilavarasi.

A new CCTV footage has emerged which purportedly shows Sasikala walking into the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison from outside in civilian clothes in the presence of cops.

It, however, does not throw light on when it was recorded or which part of the jail it is from.

First, it was photographs of a well-stocked jail cell belonging to convicted AIADMK (Amma) General Secretary VK Sasikala that made headlines.

Further, Sasikala has allegedly been using several rooms in the prison complex as a yoga room, TV room, a special kitchen and also a living room with air conditioner.

The CCTV footage is raising questions whether Sasikala and Ilavarasi were allowed to walk out of the prison by officials.

Police sources said that the women police officer, who had given a detailed report on the irregularities in the Central Prison to the then DGP of Prisons H.N. Sathyanarayana Rao received summons from the ACB on July 31. Chief Minister E K Palaniswami is also likely to pass a resolution against Sasikala that will remove her from the ruling AIADMK party of which she took charge after the death of J Jayalalithaa in December 2016.

The whistleblower IPS officer submitted the footage as part of her statement to the ACB.

After Roopa and Rao indulged in a public spat over the report, the Karnataka government had shifted her as Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commissioner for Traffic and Road Safety, Bengaluru, while Rao was asked to go on leave.
