Deulofeu stars in Barca win over Betis in shadow of terror attack”

The victory puts Barcelona joint top of La Liga, with only holding champions Real Madrid sat above the Catalonians due to a better goal difference following their 3-0 opening day win.

Barcelona players will be wearing black armbands to commemorate victims of this week's terror attack.

Fortunately for coach Ernesto Valverde, Barcelona do not have any players suspended for the game against Betis this weekend.

Aside from the shirts, Barcelona is planning a minute's silence before the match on Sunday.

Not many teams go to the Nou Camp and win - and the majority of those that do need a bit of luck on their side along the way.

The attack unfolded when a white Fiat van sped 500m along busy tourist street Las Ramblas, smashing into pedestrians.

Barcelona haven't even played their first match of the La Liga season, and they're already not enjoying their campaign. "He's a big loss, we know his ability, but we hope to replace him with some security. We are not afraid but hopefully this will all end".

"Their money was refunded to everyone, the circumstances are special and understandable", said a club spokesman.

In the bleachers, one fan displayed a placard reading: "Let us stand against terrorism".

'We have to keep going with a sense of normality. "But it is something you can't control and we can't hide".

"The first team will wear a special shirt with "Barcelona" on the back where their names are usually displayed in Sunday's LaLiga opener against Real Betis, a statement on the club's website read".

"It was a moving tribute, we wanted to celebrate this victory and I dedicated the (first) goal to the victims and their families", Deulofeu told reporters.

Gerard Pique also went off with a muscle injury in that match and looks set to miss the fixture against Betis, while Andres Iniesta does not appear ready to return after he sat out the game in Madrid on Wednesday with a thigh problem.

On the field, Barca have had a terrible start to the season as shorn of Neymar following his world record 222 million euro ($261 million) move to Paris Saint-Germain, the Catalans were swept aside 5-1 on aggregate by Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.
