'Despacito' dethrones Wiz Khalifa to take YouTube titleā€

As Vulture reports, the track, which is now sitting at just over three billion views, has dethroned Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's "See You Again", which is sitting at just under that mark. However, the record breaking music video does not include Biebs.

Victory was sweet but short for Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, whose "See You Again" became the most-viewed video ever on YouTube last month - there's a new No. 1 in town.

On Friday, Despacito beat Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth's Fast and Furious anthem "See You Again" for the top spot with almost 3 billion views; a figure it has since surpassed.

Psy's "Gangnam Style", which held the number one spot for years is now at number three.

He said: "Thank you YouTube for "Despacito" s success".

The single, which features reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee, is also close to becoming the first video to ever surpass 3 billion views, YouTube announced on Friday.

It took 203 days only for the official music video for Despacito to become the most viewed video in YouTube history. We're living in an interesting time right now when people want to divide us. "And YouTube has a big responsibility, and I recognise it. Breaking the record is overwhelming".

Talking about his experience of choreographing the song, Davar said: "When Universal Music approached me to direct and choreograph the India video, I was very excited".
