Benchmark-Kalanick Uber board suit sent to arbitration

Benchmark-Kalanick Uber board suit sent to arbitration”

The appointment of Khosrowshahi, who described himself as "a fighter", comes as Uber is trying to recover from a series of crises that culminated in the ouster of its former CEO Travis Kalanick in June. Whitman recently stepped off the board of directors of HP Inc which fuelled rumours that she might make the move to Uber.

Uber could go public as soon as 18 months from now.

"Mr. Kalanick is pleased that the court has ruled in his favor today and remains confident that he will prevail in the arbitration process", a representative for Mr. Kalanick said.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) stopped Uber's operations in mid-August, after it accused the company of flouting an order to stop accepting new driver applications.

Khosrowshahi will lead Uber's efforts to bring about change to its corporate culture and improve its reputation following claims of sexism, racism and sexual harassment within the company.

He told Bloomberg News: "Are there difficulties?" Kalanick argues that Benchmark was kept informed about issues at Uber. Several large Uber investors recently marked down their investments.

This growth is primarily through expansion in Asia, where the travel tech firm is complementing organic growth with a $350 million minority investment in Southeast Asia's online travel company Traveloka. Its rivals overseas raised billions and banded together.

Khosrowshahi's ascent to the top spot at Uber is also equally surprising given that there were other names doing the rounds.

He is described as being a "calming influence" at Expedia, which is exactly what Uber would appear to need right now as it faces up to litigation from Google parent Alphabet over its alleged theft of self-driving vehicle intelligence, and continuing accusations of spying on customers, not to mention sexism and poor conditions for drivers. But he may be close to filling one of those.

This was revealed by the Uber board to its employees while Khosrowshahi too informed his employees at Expedia of the change of role he has been into.

"We have no indication he is leaving Expedia", said Dave McNamee, a spokesman for Expedia.

Khosrowshahi said Uber needed to stabilise itself but also take what he called "big shots".

Worth noting, it was just weeks back that Kalanick came under a lot of fire after being accused of not complying with the terms agreed upon during the time of his ouster as Uber CEO.
