You will start seeing ads in Facebook Messenger in the coming months”

Going forward, more and more Messenger users around the world can expect to see ads in the home tab of their Messenger mobile app. The social networking giant has also tested Click to Message ads in the U.S., which appear in Facebook's News Feed but then link to an experience in Messenger. Facebook Messenger ads could be rolled out to all of the service's 1.2 billion users sooner rather than later. Stan Chudnovsky, head of product for Messenger, said that ads will make the platform profitable.

"The report further notes that in a telephonic interview with Venture Beats, Chudnovsky, said "[Advertising is] not necessarily everything, but it's definitely how we're going to be making money right now.

Facebook has today announced that they will begin placing advertisements into Messenger starting from today.

Messenger ads will also become an important revenue source for Facebook. And given Messenger's user base, advertisers will be able to reach a significant number of people. Now, the company is in plans to display ads in between the chat threads on Facebook Messenger. According to VentureBeat, ads will be specifically created to target each individual user, similar to how they function on the rest of the website and Instagram. This is nothing new as Facebook have been beta testing this feature since last month in Australia and Thailand.

Click to Messenger ads - takes full advantage of the personalized nature of messaging by driving people to a conversation after they interact with the ad in Facebook, Instagram or Messenger. In addition to monetizing the messaging aps, these advertisements are supposed to help users discover brands and businesses relevant to their interests. This in turn interrupts the user experience. There are Sponsored Messages, but it requires the user to initiate the conversation with brands and business.
