Shark bites man swimming off Florida beach

Shark bites man swimming off Florida beach”

The Florida beachgoer, who was not named, was in the process of exiting the waters after warnings from lifeguards to evacuate the water at Haulover Beach, which is about 8 miles (12 kilometers) north of Miami Beach.

Last year, there were 81 unprovoked shark attacks against humans, according to the Florida Museum of Natural History's International Shark Attack File. The video, which was taken from a distance, shows the water near the man turning red as he was bit by the shark.

As far as the injured man, when medics arrived the man was nowhere to be found, so there's a dude at home with a mangled hand right now.

The approx. 4-foot shark was then pulled nearer to shore, and the crowd nearby removed the hook to release it back into the ocean.

"It started getting closer to the people at the sandbar and they tried to get out", witness Donovan Cecil told Local 10 News.

'Sharks are wild animals and so we definitely don't want to be messing around with any wild animal, ' educator Gail Lemiec from the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher told WWAY.

Recently there have been several incidents of fishermen and people on shores encountering sharks, and in some cases trying to catch them.
