Qatar Airways shows support for independent State Of Qatar with patriotic canvas”

"We have enjoyed a mutually beneficial codeshare relationship since 2009 that has provided passengers flying to and from the United States with more and better flight options to points in the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and other destinations that historically have not been served by U.S. airlines".

American Airlines is to end codeshare agreements with Etihad and Qatar Airways, as part of its ongoing dispute regarding state subsidies given to the major Gulf carriers.

On Wednesday, American notified both carriers of its decision to no longer share flights with them over what it described as "illegal subsidies".

Etihad issued a statement on the decision, saying it was "disappointed" with the decision and called the parting: "anti-competitive and anti-consumer".

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: "This signing event marks a very proud moment for us here at Qatar Airways, as we celebrate our unity in the midst of this unprecedented blockade against my country".

"We are committed to the USA market and American consumers, and are taking all possible measures to ensure that the flying public is not harmed by this decision".

However, this decision wouldn't really impact Qatar Airways' plan to buy up to a 10 percent in American Airlines.

American says it didn't solicit the investment.

"American Airlines continues to believe that the [US] president and his administration will stand up to foreign governments to end massive carrier subsidies that threaten the USA aviation industry and that threatens American jobs", the company said in a filing.

Codeshares allow American to sell tickets on board flights operated by another airline using an AA flight number.

Qatar Airways said last month it planned to take up to a 10% stake in the United States airline, a move that came as a surprise to the executives as the U.S. airline.

"I should like to apologize unreservedly to those offended by my recent remarks which compared Qatar Airways cabin crew with cabin crew on USA carriers", he said in a statement.

The national carrier has confirmed its continued robust expansion plans with a host of exciting new destinations planned for the remainder of this year and 2018, including Canberra, Australia; Chiang Mai, Thailand; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; San Francisco, U.S.; and Santiago, Chile, to name a few.
