Relay for Life at Goshen High School Saturdayā€¯

Center Street in Merrill is the latest supporter of the popular Relay For Life of Merrill which annually raises over $60,000 for the fight against cancer. So many of our friends and family members have faced the challenges of dealing with this bad disease, Relay For Life empowers our community to fight back.

KMOT's Joe Skurzewski joined Minot Police Chief Jason Olson and others in sitting in the dunk tank to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Although that wasn't quite reached, the event still pulled in a little more than $56,000. As the survivors pass by, clapping and celebrating to the upbeat music, the memories of all those lost over the years surfaces, too.

Like so many at the 2017 Relay for Life in Langley Friday night, Emily Taylor Adams has been touched by cancer.

Harbaruk says participant numbers have dwindled the past few years, adding the Kamloops branch is considering a different type of event for next year's fundraiser. That's only part of the reason they volunteer.

This year, however, organizers said that the decision was made to hold the event in the downtown area to make it easier for people with mobile scooters to access the activities.
